THE CITY | LIVING IN EWA BEACH
Ewa Beach will see a consistent offering of Hoopili homes for sale year over year until completion of the master plan. Located on the west side of Oahu, Hoopili will serve as a bridge between the thriving communities of Ewa Beach and Kapolei, bringing with it a wide array of affordable housing opportunities, condominiums, townhomes, single family and multi family homes, as well as mixed-use "flex homes" to choose from.
Ewa Beach and Kapolei real estate has seen a significant uptick in development over the last decade, both in the residential and commercial retail sector with the emergence of new other new neighborhoods like Mehana at Kapolei, the resort community of Hoakalei, Kealii by Gentry, and even new Hawaiian Homelands Properties. The most notable commercial retail addition being Ka Makana Ali'i Mall.
Where is Ho’opili, Hawaii?
The shopping center brings a welcomed assortment of new restaurants, shopping and entertainment opportunities to the growing neighborhood and is a mere stone’s throw south of the Hoopili development. With a burgeoning array of dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities, Ewa/Kapolei residents are truly starting to see an “eat, work, play” environment come to life with the majority of options being only a stroll or bike ride way. Let’s not forget the beach! You’re only minutes from White Plains surfing beach and should you wish to venture into the city, take the rail! (eventually). Hoopili station will be the genesis of the Honolulu Rail Station and will offer a new, convenient way to travel to Honolulu Airport and Metro Honolulu.
Proximity to Oahu Military Bases
Like Ewa Beach and Kapolei, Ho’opili has proven to be a top pick amongst Oahu’s military personnel looking to use their Hawaii BAH towards a new home purchase as the neighborhood offers some of the best bang for your buck on Oahu. If you’re PCS’ing to Schofield Barracks Army Base Hawaii, be sure not overlook Ho’opili when looking for a place to park your Honolulu BAH. The only neighborhood on island with Oahu new homes that’s closer to Schofield would be Koa Ridge in Waipio Gentry. THE NEIGHBORHOOD | Lifestyle, Amenities, and What to Expect
The vision of Ho’opili is truly to bring the intangibles of “community” to this young neighborhood. “Home” can transcend your four walls and that’s accomplished by through an excellent set of amenities, gathering spaces, and great neighbors. Consisting of roughly 1,600 acres, the development aims to provide a dynamic display of community activity spaces through 7 recreation centers with pools, from multiple green spaces, playgrounds, wide sidewalks for pedestrian traffic, and even a community garden. The master plan provides for five brand new schools as well as bringing grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment on-site for added convenience.
Ho’opili FLEX Homes scattered through the neighborhood will provide unique “Live / Work” dynamics to some residents as they allow business operation on the ground level of the structure with living units above. Not only will this promote entrepreneurship and economy within the neighborhood, we may also see retail storefronts and cafes that the entire neighborhood can benefit from!
So is it Hoopili Kapolei or Hoopili Ewa Beach?
We think it’s both! The lines are starting to get a little blurry as Ho’opili nearly joins the Kapolei & Ewa Beach regions together but if we’re talking facts here, Ho’opili currently flies the Ewa Beach flag with the 96706 zip code, despite being a stone’s throw from being in the Kapolei 96707 zip code. With Kapolei having long been pinned as Oahu’s “Second City,” Ho’opili will play a big role in Kapolei being able to claim a “Metro” role once and for all. Ho’opili is poised to one day receive its own zip and may overtime see itself become the focal point of the Ewa Beach & Kapolei Region at large.
HO’OPILI RAIL STATIONS | Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit
If you know Kapolei & Ewa Beach then you know traffic. Especially if you’re commuting to Metro Honolulu. However, if you’re a lucky Ho’opili resident, you’ll soon be one of the first beneficiaries of commute by light rail! Flip on the nightly news and every once in a while and you have undoubtedly been subjected to the controversy surrounding the Honolulu Rail and the talk of it being vastly over budget, way behind schedule, and beneficial to few. Fortunately, Ho’opili residents are that FEW!
Not only does Ho’opili have 3 of the 21 planned Honolulu Rail Authority Transit stations, it also benefits from having the very first to be completed and were starting to see the rail cars performing practice runs as of late 2019. With the first Ho’opili Rail Station rumored to open as early as Q1 2020, the region will soon have access to long-overdue alternative means of transportation through Oahu’s busiest 20-mile long corridor from Kapolei to Ala Moana Center.
Check out the HART website for more information about estimated completion for the rail, and approximate travel times from Hoopili to Kakaako and Ala Moana.
Ho’opili Rail Stations & Ride Time to Ala Moana
Kualaka’i Station 1 | East Kapolei | in front of the Kroc Center | 42 Minutes
Keone’ae Station 2 | UH West Oahu | 40 Minutes
Honouliuli Station 3 | Ho’opili | 36 Minutes
Looking at some of the renderings, you get a conceptual sense of the community that Ho’opili hopes to be in it’s maturity. Wide, pedestrian and bike friendly sidewalks thread the neighborhood providing walkability to the neighborhoods future planned retail, grocery stores, parks, and rail stations. These are all elements a growing urban planning trend call “Transit Oriented Developments,” or “TOD’s” for short, to create vibrant, livable sustainable communities centered around mass transit stations to make it possible for lower-stress lifestyles without complete dependance on cars for transportation and survival.
